Shodan
Free account available — the “search engine for the Internet of Things” that finds devices and exposed services by IP.
Tags:Fingerprint/IP detection Useful ToolsShodan scans the IPv4 address space and indexes exposed services and banners — web servers, SSH, databases, IoT devices, cameras, industrial systems, etc. Given an IP address, Shodan shows open ports, running services, banner details, historical scans, and associated vulnerabilities (when known). It’s not a pure geolocation tool but a device & service intelligence platform: useful for security audits, threat intelligence, and for finding misconfigured or exposed infrastructure. Free accounts allow limited search and one-off IP lookups; paid plans unlock larger search quotas, API access for automation, and bulk data. Marketers rarely need Shodan, but security teams and penetration testers use it to assess exposure of servers tied to an IP.
